The Day DOMA Died

Rehearsal Wednesday 6/26/13

Thinking about appropriation. Thinking about epic histories of women. Thinking about the physicality of Wendy Davis in Texas — her solitude as she stood for so many hours without leaning on anything — how she used the strength and conviction within her body so that voices of women could be heard.

I have spent the past few rehearsals with Rachel Malehorn and Ania Hidalgo —  two incredible dancers from Milwaukee Ballet who also happen to be partners.  We shifted gears for the day.  We experimented with negative space. Sometimes the divergence is so essential.
